The eyebrows are the most expressive facial features which convey a lot of feelings and expressions. It is very important that your looks match your feeling. Brow plasty or Brow lift also known as a forehead lift is a surgery to correct the frown lines and wrinkles in forehead and brows.
Various variables can cause your brows to drop lower than their normal position including aging, damage to facial nerves, facial injury, congenital disorders and hereditary.
To correct these problems, the surgeon may remove the skin or muscles which are causing the creases. This procedure may be performed with other cosmetic procedures such as eyelid surgery.
The surgery can be performed under general or local anesthesia using two approaches:
1.Classic lift: the surgeon makes a continuous incision between the ears on top of the forehead. To correct the high forehead the surgeon makes the incision along the frontal hear line.
2.Endoscopic lift: in this approach, the surgeon makes several short incisions. Then he/she inserts a camera using a tube into one incision to see the tissues and inserts necessary equipment through another incision to correct the problem. The recovery time and scars are shorter due to smaller incisions.
The surgery takes about 2 hours. If everything goes as planned you will not need to stay overnight in the hospital.
As mentioned before, your recovery duration depends on the surgery method. However, in any case, your stitches will be removed a week after surgery. The surgeon may use screws to temporarily fix the forehead which will be removed after two weeks. To reduce the swelling in cheeks and eyes area, keep your head upper than your body at least for two days after surgery.
Most of the swelling will go away in the first two weeks and It will completely subside after several weeks. You can resume your daily life including your job and school after 10 days. During the healing period which will be a few weeks, refrain from strenuous activities.
