The mechanism of tooth whitening is an oxidation-reduction reaction process. • Consultation and treatment plan: A comprehensive dental examination, a panoramic X-ray of mouth, and a personalized treatment plan are done by your dental restoration specialist. The next steps of in-office bleaching and home bleaching are different.

The following steps are applied for in-office tooth whitening:

• Teeth shade assessment: Your restorative specialist will use a chart to check the existing shade of teeth.

• Teeth cleaning: The teeth will be cleaned by removing plaques and stains.

• Mouth preparation: A rubber dam is placed over the teeth to protects the gums and lips, and only allows the teeth to be exposed to the bleaching gel. Protective goggles are also used to shield eyes from the standard light source or laser.

• Gel application: Your dental restoration specialist will apply the bleaching gel on the teeth for 15 to 30 minutes, and use the standard light source or laser to activate the bleaching agents in the gel.

• Gel clearance: After 15 minutes, the gel is removed from the teeth.

Gel application and gel clearance will be done twice.

• Teeth whitening measurement: After cleaning the teeth again, your restorative specialist will compare the number of shades the teeth have lightened on the shade chart.

The following steps are applied for home tooth whitening:

• Mouth impression: Impressions of the upper and lower teeth are taken by your dental restoration specialist, and the trays of both jaws are consequently made by our laboratory.

• User training: Your restorative specialist will show you how to apply the gel into the trays and fit them over the teeth.

• Teeth cleaning: You should brush and floss your teeth for removing plaques and stains.

• Gel application: You should put a thin layer of the bleaching gel on the front surface of trays, and fit them gently over the teeth of both jaws for 15 to 30 minutes.

• Gel clearance: You should finally rinse your mouth for removing all traces of gel from the teeth.

Gel application and gel clearance will be continued everyday if possible until you get satisfied color.
