    A good candidate for this surgery is anyone who is unhappy with his/her appearance.
    The face and nose bones need to be fully mature for the nose surgery. For boys, the nose will have taken its final shape by about age 17 while a girl’s nose by about age 16. Performing nose surgery while the nose is still growing can interfere with its normal growth and lead to unpredictable results.
    It can also be performed for cleft palate or cleft lip patients after the age of 14.
     
    Nose surgery may be a good option for you if:
     
    • Your facial growth is completed.
    • You experience breathing problems.
    • You are self-conscious about the appearance of your nose.
    • You are physically healthy and you do not have any medical condition that can impair healing or increase the risk of surgery.
    • You have realistic expectations about what nose surgery can accomplish.
    • You are a non-smoker or have stopped smoking.
     
    Nose surgery may not be a good option for you if:
     
    • You are not able to cope with an anesthetic.
    • You are prone to bleeding tendencies or have a poor healing ability.
    • There is too much risk of having surgical complications
    • You are a smoker because smoking increases the risk of surgical complications. If you are serious about undergoing surgery, you should quit smoking.

    • There is no nasal shape that complements the natural beauty of a face. Today, surgical changes are made to enhance the remaining facial features and emphasize the individual's unique and natural facial beauty.
    • If you desire a more symmetrical nose, keep in mind that everyone's face is asymmetric to some extent. Results may not be completely symmetric, although the goal is to create facial balance and correct proportion.
    • For the first 1 or 2 weeks, many patients experience bruising and swelling. At first, you may not be able to see the improvements that have been made by the surgery. But don’t worry—the majority of bruises and swellings should subside after 10 to 14 days. Most patients feel ready to return to work or school after 1 week or 2, depending on the amount of required activity. Typically, after 3 weeks, most normal non-contact activities can be resumed. However, restrict your activities based on your surgeon’s instructions and do not engage in any strenuous activity until you are cleared to do so.
    • As with all surgical procedures, revision surgery may be necessary to correct minor irregularities.
